MiPERC

In December 1997, the  Michigan Propane Gas Association Board of Directors approved the establishment of a separate organization that would operate as a foundation filed under IRS rules 501(c)3. On June 15, 1999, the organization received its approval from the IRS as a 501(c) 3 tax status. A board of directors was established on December 11, 1997, and work began on the formation of an organization that would represent all propane marketers in the state of Michigan and would present programs to the public, marketers and opinion leaders on the safe, clean, efficient use of propane as a safe and clean fuel.

National Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) Affiliation

Since the organization formation, committees have met to evaluate programs that would be fulfulling the objective of Michigan PERC in providing consumer education, propane marketer safety and training programs, and propane research and development. The Michigan PERC Board formed focus groups to further investigate and evaluate what areas to dedicate the resources of the organization. The Board adopted the programs set by the working committees and began the process to develop a strategic plan for present and future rebate grant applications that meet the criteria of the National PERC for consumer education, safety and training and research and development.
